As we worked through the hiring process, it became clear what DEV needs most right now: someone who lives on DEV every day and takes care of the community from the inside. So we've reshaped the role into a full-time Community Manager.

What changed?

The short version: less program management, more community stewardship. You'll be the day-to-day steward of DEV: on the platform, publishing articles, getting to know our most engaged members, keeping things welcoming and high quality, and making sure folks get fast, thoughtful help.

Key Responsibilities

You will...

  • Be active on DEV every day: reading, commenting, reacting, and posting
  • Own moderation, and recruit, support, and work alongside our community moderators and curators
  • Manage our community support inboxes and channels so members get prompt, thoughtful responses
  • Run our other brand presences on DEV, like the MLH organization
  • Spot influential contributors and emerging issues, and route feedback, bugs, and feature requests to the right teams
  • Bring great technical writers from across the ecosystem to DEV
  • Curate the best of the community through roundups and newsletters
  • And more!

Important Skills

You are someone who...

  • Is an active, established DEV member (a DEV profile with real history is a huge plus!)
  • Has run Discord communities, not just hung out in them: moderating, setting up bots, building automations
  • Writes and edits well, with strong instincts for curating content
  • Makes level-headed calls in gray areas
  • Uses AI as a starting point, then brings your own taste and judgment
